The Pianist is a 2002 "biographical" war drama film directed by Roman Polanski, scripted by Ronald Harwood and starring Adrien Brody. It is based on the "autobiographical" book "The Pianist", a World War II memoir by the Polish-Jewish pianist and composer Władysław Szpilman. The film is a co-production between Poland, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The Pianist met with significant critical praise and received multiple awards and nominations.

Plot[]
The true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman who was a brilliant pianist. As a Polish Jew, he witnesses the restrictions Nazis place on Jews in the Polish capital, from restricted access to the building of the Warsaw ghetto. As his family is rounded up to be shipped off to the Nazi labor camps, he escapes deportation and eludes capture by living in the ruins of Warsaw.
