Roberto Benigni is an Italian actor, comedian, director, and writer. Benigni first gained success as a theatre actor under director Giuseppe Bertolucci before becoming famous for a controversial stunt he pulled on the series Onda Libera. He made his film debut in Bertolucci's 1977 film Belinguer, I Love You. Since then, he's directed and starred in his own films, all of which feature his wife Nicoletta Braschi.
