I plan to be around as much as possible during the Oscar run, but I don't think I can be as active as in years past. I have a lot going on personally and this site just doesn't factor in particularly highly in the running for my time. I will be on as I'm able, however, just not likely early on Thursday morning.
Hey there! Wikia is doing a Year in Fandom bracket for the greatest fandom moments in 2014 and the Oscars selfie from this year's awards show made it in! I posted this thread about voting and was hoping we could highlight the thread. Let me know if that's ok, thanks!
I have been editing the Award Pages, i.e. Best Production Design, Best Makeup, etc. I didn't like the idea of having a gazillion pages for the same award due to name changes other than the awards that were splt into two categories, i.e. Art Direction (black and white) and Art Direction (color). So where just the name changed from one to another, I wanted to go ahead and keep it all on the new name but still show it on the individual lists/movie pages as it's original name so did the for example:
Best Production Design | Best Art Direction, so that when you click on Best Art Direction it goes to the Best Production page. I hope I'm making sense here. Anyway, the problem I have now is on the Movie pages...our template we have for FilmWins and FilmNoms, will not allow me to do that unless I add brackets but then the brackets show up in white. Is there a way to change that? I cannot figure it out for the life of me. It's driving me nuts. LOL.
I simply created a redirect on Best Art Direction pointing to Best Production Design. Now links to both articles will take the reader to the latter. If you need to this for any other categories, simply type
Haven't seen you around in a quite awhile. I hope all is ok and going well for you.
I need your opinion. I'm adding oscar-winning and oscar-nomninated pictures to the actors pages but I can't decide what I like better. Can you go take a look at the following and tell me which you like better?
Nevermind...I made a decision on them. I think doing them with all pictures from all their winning or nominated films could just get out of control, i.e. Meryl Streep...just too much. So I've decided on just the one photo of each.
If you think differently or have other ideas, let me know.
I think adding pics of them in their various films as a gallery at the bottom of the pages isn't a bad idea, but not something we'd need to or be able to do for every film of every actor over 90 years.
This is the first quiz with videos in it we've done and we're experiencing a bug- the correct answer video for the third question is not auto-playing. I'm working on getting this fixed and we won't promote the quiz till it is fixed, but wanted to share it with you now.
How are you doing? Andy brought to my attention something we didn't think about. In the early years of the Oscars, pre 1934, eligibility was done differently, so a film that was released in 1929, could be eligible at the 1931 oscars. The film template forces the categoreis to show , for example 1929 films, 1930 nominated films when in actuality it was nominated in 1931. I took a look at the template, and dang if I know how to change that one.
I know you are super busy and with your surgery coming up this will have to wait but I wanted to mention it so you could put it on your list. For now, I've told Andy to leave the early years alone for now until we get this resolved.
Added to the list. Between work, a pending surgery, and moving this weekend, I'm totally booked. I trust you and Andy to keep things updated following the ceremony on Sunday, and I should be back to editing regularly within a week or so after that.
Those questions all look good. I'd prefer if the titles of all the movies were alphabetized in the options so that there's no order bias, and that they're all italicized. I don't know the final format of the quiz in terms of wiki markup, but if any names and film titles could also be wikilinked, that'd be great as well.
