Mare Winningham is an American actress. She has been nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Drama Desk, 8 Emmy Award nominations (winning two), and has also won an Independent Spirit Award and two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. She started in television appearing in various television series, made for TV movies and mini-series. She won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie for her role in the critically acclaimed "Amber Waves". She also broke into feature films with One Trick Pony, starring Paul Simon. Winningham achieved greater fame in St. Elmo's Fire (1985) as one of the original "brat pack" alumni. She starred in the famed television series "ER" and "Grey's Anatomy". Notable films to her credit include, Wyatt Earp (1994), Georgia (1995), Mirror Mirror (2012), and Philomena (2013).
