Malik Bendjelloulis a Swedish documentary filmmaker and former child actor. He won the Jury Special Prize for Best Documentary and the Audience Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival for his documentary Searching for Sugar Man. Malik started his television career as a reporter on Swedish public television), where he worked as a freelancer and journalist for Kobra. His career also included working as a host for the breakfast television program, "Gomorron Sverige" as well as for the morning radio program "P1-morgon" for Sveriges Radio. He also worked for an independent production company, Barracuda Film & TV. Subsequently, he left the job to direct documentaries on musicians including Elton John, Rod Stewart, Björk and Kraftwerk.

Malik Bendjelloul committed suicide on May 13, 2014 after struggling with severe depression according to his family.
