Judas and the Black Messiah is a 2021 biographical film about how FBI informant William O'Neal infiltrated the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in order to get close to their leader, Fred Hampton. The film is directed by Shaka King, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Will Bersen, both of whom developed the story with the Lucas Brothers. The film stars Lakeith Stanfield, Daniel Kaluuya, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Lil Rel Howery, Algee Smith, Dominique Thorne. and Martin Sheen. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on February 1, 2021, and was released both in theaters and on WarnerMedia's streaming service HBO Max less than two weeks later on February 12.
