Role Costume Designer
UK

Jane Clive is a British costume designer. She originally studied Fashion and Textiles. With an interest in theatre and acting, she moved into costume designing. After leaving college she worked as a freelance costume maker, buyer and supervisor at venues such as English National Opera. But it was in the costume painting department at the Royal Opera house that she developed a passion for the transformation of costumes through the use of ageing processes, texture and print. She set up her own costume painting studio in London, working on many stage productions such as ‘Cats’ and ‘Phantom of the Opera’. She invented printing techniques to imitate lavish embroidery, reptilian surfaces or reduce fabric to a threadbare state. Her film credits include such titles as, Henry V (1989), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), Angels and Insects (1996), Restoration (1995), Topsy-Turvy (1999), Quills (2000), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), and Maleficent (2014).
