Inside Llewyn Davis is a 2013 American comedy-drama film. It was written, directed and edited by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake, and was produced by Scott Rudin, Ethan and Joel Coen. The film's musical director was T-Bone Burnett. Although Llewyn Davis is a fictional character, the story was partly inspired by the autobiography of folk singer Dave Van Ronk. The folk songs performed in the film are all sung in full, and, with one exception, were recorded live. The film won the Grand Prix at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, where it screened on May 19, 2013.
