Drive My Car is a 2021 Japanese drama film about a recently widowed actor and director Yûsuke Kafuku as he forms a bond with his chauffeur while also confronting the personal demons of his past, all while putting on a production of Anton Chekov's Uncle Vanya. The film is directed by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, who also co-wrote the script with Takamasa Oe, based on the short story with the same name from Haruki Muarakami's book Men Without Women. The film stars Hidetoshi Nishijima, Tôko Miura, Reika Kirishima, and Masaki Okada. The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival on July 11, 2021, was released theatrically in Japan on August 20, and was later given a theatrical release in the United States on November 24.
