David O. Russell is an American film director and screenwriter. He has been praised for the loose, comic energy that characterizes his work, and received his first Academy Award nomination in 2011 for his film The Fighter, which was a notable break from his typical filmic style. Other notable titles to his credit include, Spanking the Monkey (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), Three Kings (1999), I Heart Huckabees (2004). He is also on the board of Ghetto Film School which brings money and time from industry professionals and supports the growth of young black and Latino filmmakers.
