Dan Gilroy is an American screenwriter. He comes from a family of writers and more. He is the the son of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Frank D. Gilroy, and sculptor and writer Ruth Dorothy. His brother Tony Gilroy is a screenwriter and director; and his fraternal twin brother, John Gilroy, is a film editor. He is also married to actress, Rene Russo. His first screenplay was the 1992 film Freejack. Other notable films to his credit include, Real Steel (2011), and Nightcrawler (2014) which he also directed.
