Before Midnight is a 2013 American romantic drama film and the sequel Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004). Like its predecessors, the film was directed by Richard Linklater and stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. As with the previous film, Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy shared screenplay credit. Following a limited opening in May, the film was released wide on June 14, 2013. Before Midnight received widespread acclaim from critics and grossed over $20 million worldwide.

It has been nine years since we last met Jesse and Celine, the French-American couple who once met on a train in Vienna. They now live in Paris with twin daughters, but have spent a summer in Greece on the invitation of an author colleague of Jesse's. When the vacation is over and Jesse must send his teenage son off to the States, he begins to question his life decisions, and his relationship with Celine is at risk.
