Želary is a 2003 Czech film directed by Ondřej Trojan, starring Anna Geislerová. The movie received an Academy Award nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. It was produced by Barrandov Studios in Prague. The film is adapted from two works by Czech novelist Květa Legátová - "Želary," a collection of short stories published in 2001, and her 2002 book, "Jozova Hanule."

Plot[]
A nurse and her surgeon-lover are part of a resistance movement in 1940s Czechoslovakia. When they are discovered, her lover flees and she must find a place to hide. A patient whose life she saved, a man from a remote mountain village where time stopped 150 years ago, agrees to hide her as his wife.
